RICHARD Etienne

Musician, composer.

 JAZZ

Although very attracted to music from his childhood (his father was an amateur musician), he first developed a passion for socio-cultural activities, and it was at the age of 32 that he turned to the music. He first participated in internships and took private lessons with teachers such as Charles LOOS (B), who encouraged him, Eric LEGNINI (B), Dave FRANK (USA), Burton GREENE (USA) and d' others.

In 1989, he began two intensive years at the JAZZ STUDIO in Antwerp with the pianist Eric VERMEULEN;  he completes his training in harmony, arrangements and composition with the guitarist Peter HERTMANS. In 1992, he was part of the ensemble and improvisation class of saxophonist Erwin VANN at the Brussels Conservatory and it was from this moment that he began to evolve on the jazz scene.

He has since played in various bands with a number of quality musicians in Belgium, such as Daniel ROMEO, Sal LAROCCA, John PETERSON, Jan DE HAAS, Félix SIMTAINE, Joe HIGHAM, Bart DEFOORT, Manu HERMIA, Fabrice ALLEMAN, Jean -Louis RASINFOSSE,  Bruno CASTELLUCCI, Lieven VENKEN, Chris JORIS, Toine THYS, Fred DELPLANCQ, Chris MENTENS etc...

Among his many musical experiences, the most constant (and the longest) is the quartet - quintet NO VIBRATO, of which he is the founder, and in which he brings his talents as a composer (unanimously appreciated) and as an arranger. The band has recorded 4 CDs in the studio and one live CD.

In addition to regular performances in Belgian clubs and festivals, the band travels regularly to Europe and especially to France, with nearly 400 concerts since 1994. In the summer of 2018, the "20th anniversary tour", established for the 20th anniversary of the tours of the group NO VIBRATO in Ardèche, was a real success.

Etienne RICHARD has also been playing in a trio since 1997 and in addition to Belgium, he has already performed with this formula in Switzerland and Quebec. Repertoire: rearranged standards and compositions.

Many solo performances and piano bar.

Finally, he regularly invites international personalities for tours, such as the American saxophonist Paul STOCKER, the English singer Loretta SCOTT, the black American singer Mandy GAINES, the Australian Kristen CORNWELL and the Franco-American Mina SMALL.
